Our editorial policy covers topic selection, the sourcing hierarchy for material specifications, authorship, review, updates, and corrections.

We publish material that performs a clear decision job: choosing between products, understanding a specification, or judging whether a claimed performance figure is relevant to a given application. Search visibility is a distribution outcome, not the reason a guide exists.

Sourcing hierarchy

Published standards and test methods take precedence, followed by the manufacturer’s current datasheet, declaration of performance, or installation instruction. Trade association guidance and reputable industry reporting may supply context or market observation, but they do not override a standard or a datasheet.

Authorship and review

Each guide names an author. Material that carries specification or safety consequences may also name a reviewer and a review date. Author pages describe relevant experience without inflating credentials or implying licensure we do not hold.

Evidence and judgment

A sourced value and an editorial recommendation are written so a reader can tell them apart. Comparisons, rules of thumb, and selection frameworks are our interpretation; standards, test data, and datasheet figures are attributed to the document they came from.

Updates and corrections

Product revisions and standard amendments make old figures wrong rather than merely stale, so substantive changes get an updated date and, where the conclusion moved, an explanation. We do not refresh timestamps to signal activity.

Commercial independence

Editorial selection is not sold. If a guide ever carries affiliate, sponsored, or supplied-sample relationships, that relationship is disclosed on the page itself.
